Spring 2024 Congressional Art Competition

Spring 2024 Congressional Art Competition now open to all high school students in California’s 1st District

CALIFORNIA – Congressman Doug LaMalfa has announced that the Spring 2024 Congressional Art Competition is now open to all high school students in the 1st District.

The theme for this year’s competition is “Dams & Lakes for Goodness Sakes – Storing Water for Flood & Food”.

The overall winner’s artwork will be displayed for a year in the U.S. Capitol, alongside other contest winners from all the other Congressional districts nationwide.

The overall winner will also receive two tickets, one for the student and one for a guardian from Southwest Airlines to fly to Washington, D.C. to take part in the viewing of their art in the exhibition.

A reception will be held in the U.S. Capitol in honor of the competition winners.

“I am pleased to announce that this year’s Congressional Art Competition is open and this year’s theme is “Dams & Lakes for Goodness Sakes – Storing Water for Flood & Food”. The Congressional Art Competition is a nice opportunity for talented young adults to compete to showcase their abilities to the entire country, and I look forward to viewing all the great submissions. I enjoy seeing California’s First District’s winning piece in the halls of the Capitol as well as so many others from around our nation and point them out to visitors and tours. It’s a bit of optimism and positivity as we trek to the Floor for debates and votes,” Congressman LaMalfa said.

The competition guidelines and additional information can be found on the Congressman’s website.

The deadline to apply for the art competition is April 26.
